Cosplay OVERDRIVE Contest
Registration Guidelines

ALL entries are subject to the following…

- Costumes and skits must be PG-13.
- No live steel, firearms, incendiary devices, messy substances, or acrobatics. Do not interact with MCs or judges. Do not throw things. Do not run or jump off stage. Period.
- If you disregard either of these rules, you will be disqualified and/or asked to leave the event.

Cosplay Overdrive Costume Contest Guidelines - Craftsmanship

1) To be properly and fairly judged on your costume, you must answer YES to ALL of the following questions:

- Did you create your costume yourself?
- Did you supply reference materials for your costume?
- Was the majority of your costume handcrafted?

2) All craftsmanship judging occurs prior to the Cosplay itself. If you do not attend your meeting with the craftsmanship judges, you will not be eligible to win craftsmanship awards. Please be early to ensure you do not miss your time.

3) Each contestant may wear one and only one costume. No exceptions.

4) You must fill out a separate entry form for each costume you wish to be judged for craftsmanship, regardless of the size of your group.

Craftsmanship contestants may wish to review the Judging Categories before registration. You will be required to place yourself in a division upon check-in at the convention.  The Judging Categories document may be found at the bottom of this page, or on the forums.

Cosplay Overdrive Costume Contest Guidelines - Skits

1) Your skit must be two (2) minutes or less. The measurement is started as soon as your skit starts. If you go over the time limit during performance, you will be disqualified. Excessive setup or cleanup time will not be allowed.

2) No live steel, firearms, incendiary devices, messy substances, or acrobatics. Do not interact with MCs or judges. Do not throw things. Do not run or jump off stage. Period.

3) Leave the stage exactly as you found it. Staff will NOT be available to move sets or props. Please plan to bring them on and off stage with you.

4) Sound will be available. Please be prepared to provide a CD upon check in; we suggest copying the single track that you need to a writable CD for simplicity's sake.

5) All skit scripts must be reviewed and approved. If your skit has not been reviewed, you will not be allowed to perform.

6) Only one entry form needs to be completed for the group. All individuals participating must be named on the entry form.

7) You must not deviate from your script (ie: "surprise" the judges, staff, or anyone else). If you significantly deviate from your script, you will be disqualified.

8) Costumes worn for skits may also be judged for Craftsmanship. Please be aware that you must also meet Craftsmanship guidelines to be eligible.

Cosplay Fashion Show Guidelines

The Fashion Show is a non-judged part of the Cosplay Event. If you just want to show off your costume and do not wish to create a skit or have your costume judged for craftsmanship, this is the event for you.

You may have others model your costumes. You may wear a costume someone else has created. You may wear a store-bought, secondhand, or cobbled costume. Your costume may be from anime, manga, music, games, or styles of dress (EGL, steampunk, etc). Anything goes!

There will only be allowed one costume per entry, as there will be no location for quick changes. Please plan accordingly.

You must, however, still abide by these rules:

- Costumes must be PG-13
- No live steel, firearms, incendiary devices, messy substances, or acrobatics. Do not interact with MCs or judges. Do not throw things. Do not run or jump off stage. Period.

So, you're asking… where do I fit in all this? Here are a few simple questions that will help you decide!

Do you want your costume to be judged for Craftsmanship?
Please register for the COSPLAY OVERDRIVE as:
WALK ON
.

Do you want to perform a skit?
Please register for the COSPLAY OVERDRIVE as:
A SKIT.
If you do a skit, you may ALSO be judged for Craftsmanship, if you want.

Do you just want to show off your costume
without being judged for Craftsmanship,
or wear a costume someone else made?

Please register for the FASHION SHOW section.
